Christofle

Distinguished in all areas of dinnerware and table dressing

Christofle was founded in 1830 by Charles Christofle, a worker of precious metals, and it has been located in Saint-Denis since 1878. The Christofle silver dynasty has a long history behind it. Charles Christofle, who started learning his trade at the age of 15 in the jewellery business of his brother-in-law in Paris, established his own precious metals workshop in 1830.

In 1842, he chose the route of technical innovation and specialised in gold and silver plating using electrolytic methods. That proved to be a strategic choice that would establish his name forever. Louis-Philippe and Napoleon III ordered dinner services from him, enabling Christofle to assume the title of “Purveyor to the Royal Court”.

After a difficult period between the two world wars, Christofle recovered its former allure as a producer of cutlery. Branches were established throughout the world. Today, Christofle is at home in all areas of dinnerware and table settings. The product line includes cutlery, silver plates, cups and jugs, serving trays, porcelain, crystal, gift articles, and so on.
